New Year, New Design

After almost a year of running this site, I’m finally pleased to release the first official design for this site. The previous one was simply a minimalistic and temporary design, just to hold me over, and also to get me kick started on designing something. It has been over a year in the making, mostly because of time constraints and the fact that I’m designing for myself, which is one of the hardest things to do.

I started out all proper with wireframes, but I ended up scraping what I came up with and decided to just go with a traditional two column linear blog approach. I tossed around several different versions of clean looks and textured/grungy looks, but eventually settled on something that crosses a textured and slightly grungy look with some hand drawn elements. It’s not all here yet, as I still have to put together a few standard pages: about, contact, archive, but those will come in time. One of the fun things to setup with this was an em based layout. As text size increases, the site stretches proportionately, much like the zoom feature of newer browsers.

Over the past year, I haven’t been able to post much, but I do hope to do more. Once our company blog launches at andCulture, I’ll probably be posting more there. In the meantime, check out the new design and drop me a comment to let me know what you think!
